When we go on holiday we leave behind our work, our duties...and our routines. The latter sometimes includes our regular beauty ritual... Mistake!! Over summer or your holidays, if there’s one thing you should be strict about it’s taking care of your skin. Especially if you're visiting a large city: pollution is one of skin’s greatest enemies.
Cleansing, moisturising and sunscreen products have to be your most precious luggage. Not convinced? Let me explain how pollution impacts your skin.
Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), mostly due to diesel car combustion, are the most damaging pollutants for the skin. They and the rest of the pollution you are exposed to increase the generation of free radicals, encouraging the appearance of wrinkles and sagging, reducing levels of vitamins E and C, diminishing the supply of oxygen to tissues and causing your skin to look dull and lifeless...
That’s why it’s so important to keep the largest organ in your body protected. You really need to cleanse your skin morning and night. The ideal thing is to follow it up with an antioxidant or Vitamin C-based cream.
The need for protection doesn't end there: the sun is a source of life, but also of wrinkles and other much more serious problems that we all should try to avoid.
In fact, pollution and sun are a doubly harmful cocktail: UV rays and polluting particles further promote skin damage.
So take note: wherever you go on holidays, take care of your skin. Bon voyage!
