The MartiDerm Hands for Help charitable work came about from the commitment of company founder Josep Martí Tor to give back to society.
With this goal, Hands for Help began to work in three areas in 2008:
WORKPLACE INTEGRATION OF PEOPLE WITH A DISABILITY
The first solidarity project consisted of recruiting people with a disability to work in the laboratory, offering them real workplace integration potential.
Today we can say that we have moved from workplace integration to workplace promotion, as fully 50% of the people taken on hold positions of responsibility that have powered their professional and personal development.
The hand cream has been our solidarity product for more than 10 years. We currently have two versions: the regular daily cream and the intensive hand cream. In both cases, 100% of profits go to social projects.
For the first three years, we allocated our resources to helping working women in Cameroon roll out microenterprises. We then got involved with victims of child abuse, providing them with psychological aid. Now, for more than six years, we have been working with the Spanish Red Cross to help the elderly by providing them with products and educating them on skincare.
PROMOTING HEALTHY AGING
At MartiDerm Laboratory we are experts in caring for skin health. We have expanded the care concept to embrace other complementary areas of health, sustainability and solidarity. We are pleased to say that our charitable work helps the elderly.
We started out by visiting nursing homes in 2011 and in the past six years have been partnering the Red Cross in its elderly people's programme across Spain. The collaboration deliverables include 50,000 tubes of hand cream provided to over 15,000 elderly people and 60 educational talks on skincare. We contribute with appropriate products to caring for the skin and training sessions focused on the skincare needs of the elderly; 90% of our sales team engage in the sessions, making it a corporate volunteering experience that is integrated in our activity.

Charitable Work in Portugal
MartiDerm initiated its charitable work in Portugal two years ago. In the first year, this involved donating close to 1,000 products in two social centres, one in Cascais and the other in Porto. Last year we provided emergency aid to the victims of the forest fires, donating specific dermatological care products.
